I can see your point, I’m not sure if it’s a fad or something that’ll stick. I hope to be around long enough to find out :) From my online experience, a lot of pronoun additions are to stop people from simply guessing or assuming someone’s gender. Gender is a social construct, it’s how we present ourselves to the world, whereas sex is the genitals we’re born with. So I understand why many people want to be upfront about how we should address them, it just took a bit of discomfort for me to adapt to this new societal expectation of listing my gender to ensure I’ll be addressed in the manner I prefer. I suppose that’s part of getting older — feeling a skosh of discomfort at new things.
