I’ve always wanted to see lion dancing but somehow manage to miss every single show whenever I was at a Lunar New Year celebration, so I was thrilled when I found out about the Togather Chinatown Arts Festival over at the Edmonton Chinatown Multi-Cultural Centre this past weekend.

While this festival felt more like a Lunar New Year celebration, it had festival in the title and therefore qualifies as a festival for my resolution to attend one per month.

Once again the weather turned cold by the weekend. Edmonton has had an unseasonably warm winter so far, with the exception of a few days, and an arctic tendril settled over us by Saturday. Thankfully this festival was indoors.

I’ve never been to Chinatown but I know that Edmonton has allocated some funding to the area for cultural events and will begin construction on a new Harbin Gate in 2025. A friend told me about a new park in the area as well, so I may revisit sometime in the summer since everything is covered in snow at the moment.

My hubby joined me this time, which was nice. Admission was free and there was a magic show just inside the doors, which had a good-sized crowd for the building. Two other rooms…

When I’m not writing my novel I’m writing rants and whatnot. Figured I might as well post them here.
